JENNIFER'S LETTER

July 17, 2009

Dear Friends,
Several of your classmates have been hard at work planning a reunion that everyone will enjoy; we hope that includes you! Susie Ellis Knable, Barry Bozeman, Barbara Cox Hartsell, Karen Dempsey Catlett, Sandi Stevens Woodland, Walter Fain, Mark Medley, June Roberts Brinkley, Jane Smartt Stroud, Paulette Farmer Corcoran, Sue Tuttle Cockrum, Doug Ebbs, and Brenda Bacon Goble have been working since April; I hope you will join me in thanking them.
Please help this committee locate missing classmates. Go to http://holston64.blogspot.com and update addresses there that you know are incorrect. Also, refer classmates that may not have received this letter to that site where they can get all necessary information as well as register for the reunion.
October 17 is the big date for our 45th reunion for the Holston High School Class of 1964!
One main event is planned: dinner at 6:00 at the Square Room on Market Square Mall. Parking is free in downtown Knoxville on Saturdays; the closest parking garages are the Market Square and Locust Street Garages. We thought all of you would enjoy seeing the transformation of downtown Knoxville....things are not the same.
In connection to that, we have planned an optional tour of downtown that will begin on the north end of Market Square at 3:30 and end at 5:30 p.m. at Market Square. We hope that you will be able to see many of the new public buildings such as: East Tennessee Historical Museum, Federal Courthouse, Tennessee Theater, Bijou Theater, S&W Cafeteria, the new Riviera, plus some of the many new swanky condominiums. Please indicate in your registration if you are interested in this tour; cost per person will be $10.00. Space is limited to 36 people. We will proceed with those plans when we know the response. Also, some of you may want to plan brunches, golf games, etc. with small groups of friends before the reunion dinner.
I do want to warmly encourage each of you to come to this reunion. We need to remember and relish our lives together. I hope to see you on October 17th.
Fondly,
Jennifer Logan Brown

August 2006 Class Dinner

On Tuesday August 8 at 6:30pm Holston 64 classmates met at the Lakeside Tavern in Concord for dinner and conversation. Barbara Cox, Sheila McCollister, Susie Ellis, Jane Smartt, Joy Warren, Brenda Bacon, Karen Dempsey, Sandy Stevens, Sherry Yarbrough, Ed Kinsey, Lyndon Wyrick, Jennifer Logan, Mickey Bowers, Libby Mays, and Walter Fain and a few spouses attended. It was great fun and a good time was had by all. We made plans to do it again on Tuesday November 7 at 6:30pm at the Riverside Tavern downtown Knoxville and we hope more of you will be able to attend.

Some of us are planning a trip to the Flatrock Theater near Hendersonville, NC sometime this Fall to see Mike Anderson in a play. Here are a few pictures - Mickey Bowers is sending more and I will post them as soon as I can.
Here's hoping all of you are doing well and looking forward to hearing from you or seeing you in November.

The Holston High School Dedication Wall

Susie Ellis Knable and Jennifer Logan Brown present a check for $300 raised at the Holston Class of 64 Reunion for a Holston High School Dedication Wall to be erected in the beautiful new two story entrance way in the current renovation of Holston Middle School to Principal Tom Brown

This is the Architects drawing of the front of Holston as it will be after the renovation. The facade to the left wraps completely around the old auditorium ending where the old entrance to the school used to be. The glass center section will be the new two story open entrance where the school office is now. The new office will be to the left of that entrance.

The plan is to take the old awards and trophies for Holston High School currently in storage and to have them refurbished. A suitable case will be constructed with a plaque dedicating that wall of the new Holston Middle School to Holston High School.

We need to raise more money for this project and we ask anyone who is willing to donate to send a check payable to:
the Holston High Dedication Fund
to Susie Ellis Knable 6333 Mountain Laurel Road, Knoxville, TN. 37924

Please click on the Class Address File to the left or at the bottom of the page (depends on your screen resolution) and check to see if your address is correct.
If you need it corrected add the correction to the comment file at the bottom of the list and comments where it says POST A COMMENT.

You can add a comment to this post by clicking on COMMENTS just below this line.
